For a strike of the Working-Class.
Faced with an increasingly desperate scenario, the working class is presented with two events this coming November: a General Strike and general elections.
However, the working class will not cast its true vote at the ballot box on the 29th; rather, it will do so on November 11th — the day of the General Strike.
It is not enough to simply call out the traitors. It is not enough to say that the mainstream UGT and CCOO unions will sell us out to maintain their own comfortable lifestyles at our expense. It is not enough to say that governments — of any political stripe — are entirely at the mercy of the ruling classes.
We must build an alternative. We must embrace the task ahead: to conquer a tomorrow that rightfully belongs to us.
The streets have said "enough." Housing cannot remain an unattainable luxury; wages cannot stagnate while prices skyrocket; wealth cannot be concentrated in the hands of a few.
The working class must wake up. If we fail to do so, our public healthcare — already in the process of being dismantled — is at risk, as is the right of a worker’s child to an education.
When workers are unaware of their own power, the ruling classes exploit them for their own, dark ends. In recent years, military spending has soared; and when they decide they need to send us to the front lines, it is the workers who will lose their lives in their wars — as is already happening in many parts of the world.
Furthermore, after a lifetime of hard work and sweat — lining their pockets — we are not even guaranteed a pension. They intend to profit from that, too: first by stripping the system bare, and then by proposing "mixed pension systems" — a euphemism for turning our retirement funds into yet another source of profit.
The strike must belong to the workers themselves (opens in a new tab); we cannot allow those who have created our misery to take control of it.
At the CNT, we denounce — without fear — the PSOE and Sumar government, holding them responsible for our misery, and we deem the country’s major trade unions, the UGT and CCOO, their accomplices. We also point to the opposition, which is preparing to govern on the back of our misery. And we point to the bosses, who take advantage of our current state of demobilisation to enrich themselves from our misery.
Enough is enough! Let’s empty our workplaces and fill the streets to show that, if we choose to, we can bring the country to a standstill!
Workers! On November 11th, answer the call to strike — organise yourself with the CNT!
"Workers must learn that their power does not lie in the strength of their vote, but in their capacity to halt production."
